A school district in Warwick, Rhode Island, is seeking a Special Education Teacher for an 8th-grade sub-separate classroom focused on students with intellectual disabilities. This contract position is set for the current school year (CSY) and offers the opportunity to provide individualized instruction in a highly supportive setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized educational support to a caseload of four students with intellectual disabilities
  • Collaborate effectively with support staff, related service providers, and families to foster student growth
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs and state requirements
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
  • Maintain detailed documentation and comply with all applicable special education guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Valid Rhode Island Moderate (5–12) or Severe Special Education Teaching License required
  • Out-of-state licenses will be considered for qualified candidates
  • Demonstrated passion for working with students with intellectual disabilities
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to supporting individual student success through tailored instruction
