Special Education Teacher in Waterbury, CT

A special education teaching opportunity is available at a middle school in Waterbury, CT, focused on a self-contained Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program. This contract position involves working with a small, dedicated group of five students, providing specialized instruction and support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to the needs of students with special education needs in a self-contained setting
• Implement social-emotional learning strategies to enhance student development and engagement
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and modify IEPs (Individualized Education Programs)
• Utilize assessment data to monitor student progress and adapt teaching approaches accordingly
• Maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning and growth

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid special education teaching certification
• Experience working in self-contained special education settings, preferably at the middle school level
• Knowledge of social-emotional learning principles and ability to integrate them into daily instruction
• Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with students, families, and school staff
• Patience, creativity, and a student-centered approach to teaching

• School-day hours from 7:30 AM to 2:40 PM
