A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available at a therapeutic day school serving students with autism and autistic-like characteristics. The program supports K-12 students and embraces a supportive environment designed to address unique behavioral needs, including aggression and self-harm, with strong district resources in place. Location:

  • Waukegan, IL, within a therapeutic day school program

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction to students with autism and similar characteristics from kindergarten through 12th grade
  • Implement behavioral and educational strategies to support students with social-emotional disabilities (SEDOL)
  • Collaborate with therapeutic and support staff to ensure a safe and effective learning environment
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to meet each child's needs
  • Maintain compliance with district guidelines and state educational standards for special education

Qualifications:

  • Illinois Educator License with Special Education endorsement (valid PEL)
  • Experience working with students with autism and behavior challenges
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Familiarity with therapeutic day school settings and related support systems

Schedule:

  • Full-time, 35 hours per week
  • Contract duration through May 27, 2026
  • Immediate start date preferred
