A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available at a therapeutic day school serving students with autism and autistic-like characteristics. Location:
- Waukegan, IL, within a therapeutic day school program
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to students with autism and similar characteristics from kindergarten through 12th grade
- Implement behavioral and educational strategies to support students with social-emotional disabilities (SEDOL)
- Collaborate with therapeutic and support staff to ensure a safe and effective learning environment
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to meet each child's needs
- Maintain compliance with district guidelines and state educational standards for special education
Qualifications:
- Illinois Educator License with Special Education endorsement (valid PEL)
- Experience working with students with autism and behavior challenges
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Familiarity with therapeutic day school settings and related support systems
Schedule:
- Full-time, 35 hours per week
- Contract duration through May 27, 2026
