An elementary special education teaching opportunity is available for the 2025-2026 school year in the West Hartford area of Connecticut. Two full-time positions are open, serving 5th and 6th grade students. This contract role runs from October 2025 through June 2026 with a typical Monday through Friday schedule, averaging 32 to 37.5 hours per week.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs in a supportive classroom environment
- Collaborating with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly
- Maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with state and district regulations
Qualifications:
- Valid special education certification required
- Previous experience working in school settings with special education students
- Strong understanding of instructional best practices and legal requirements related to special education
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
