A licensed Special Education Teacher is needed to support a middle school LINKS program serving students with significant support needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This full-time, contract role is available immediately through the end of the current school year, with potential for extension.

The LINKS program serves classrooms with six students, staffed by two paraprofessionals and individualized 1:1 support personnel. The teacher of record will provide instructional leadership, implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary support team to meet each student’s unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students in the LINKS program
  • Implement and monitor IEP goals in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and 1:1 aides to ensure consistent support
  • Manage classroom behaviors, including addressing sensory needs and self-injurious behaviors (SIB)
  • Provide personal care assistance such as toileting support as needed

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts Special Education teaching license
  • Experience working with students with ASD and significant support needs
  • Knowledge of sensory integration and strategies for managing self-injurious behaviors
  • Ability to work as part of a cohesive team with paraprofessionals and support staff
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality

Additional requirements include passing a drug screen, fingerprinting and background (CORI) checks, and adherence to all school policies on attendance and communication in case of illness.

Location: Middle school setting in Westfield, Massachusetts
Position Type: Contract through current school year (CSY)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday during regular school hours
