Special Education Teacher - Winsted, CT

A full-time special education teaching opportunity is available for the 2025-2026 school year in Winsted, CT, at an elementary school setting. The contract runs from October 2025 through June 2026. Two positions are open—one for a 5th-grade special education teacher and another for a 6th-grade special education teacher. This role requires working Monday through Friday, with weekly hours ranging between 32 and 37.5.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid special education teaching certification
• Prior experience working in an elementary school setting
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and parents

Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with diverse learning needs
• Assess and monitor student progress regularly, adjusting instructional plans as needed
• Collaborate with general education teachers to promote inclusive learning environments
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district policies and state regulations
• Participate in professional development and team meetings
