This position offers an opportunity to work as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary school setting, serving students from kindergarten through 5th grade in a resource inclusion classroom. The caseload includes approximately 18 students, supported by paraprofessional staff. The role emphasizes starting and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with related services personnel. This contract position requires a commitment of 35 hours per week.

Location: Yorktown, VA
Duration: Contract – Current School Year (CSY)
Setting: Elementary school

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, write, and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students
  • Collaborate with related services staff to support student needs
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 18 K-5 students in a resource inclusion classroom
  • Work alongside paraprofessionals to facilitate effective instruction and support
  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to Early Childhood and Lower Elementary age groups

Qualifications:

  • Valid Virginia teaching license with a Special Education endorsement required
  • Experience working with Early Childhood and Lower Elementary students preferred
  • Proficient in creating and managing IEPs as a Case Manager
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with related services professionals and support staff
