This Special Education Teacher position is based in Yorktown, VA, offering an opportunity to work within a self-contained classroom setting. You will manage a caseload of approximately 10 students and collaborate with paraprofessionals to support student learning and development. This role emphasizes experience in creating and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and working closely with related services staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and instruct in a self-contained special education classroom
- Develop, write, and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and related services staff to support student needs
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods accordingly
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with families and school personnel
Qualifications:
- Virginia teaching license with Special Education endorsement required
- Ability to write and implement IEPs
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
