A full-time teaching opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing serving a K-12 caseload in Arlington, TX. This contract position begins on January 6th and continues for the current school year. The role focuses on supporting approximately 20 students who are full sign language users, many of whom use hearing devices and FM systems in the classroom.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across grades K-12
- Managing a caseload of 20 students, adapting teaching methods to meet their diverse communication needs
- Collaborating with educational staff, audiologists, and families to support student progress
- Utilizing and maintaining hearing devices and FM systems in classroom settings
- Developing individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with state standards and student goals
Qualifications:
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in either General Education or Special Education
- Certification as a Teacher of the Auditory Impaired
- Experience working with students who use sign language and hearing technology
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
