An educational opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing students within a K-12 school environment in Aurora, IL. This contract position is designed to fill a temporary leave and requires expertise in delivering tailored instruction to students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Use specialized teaching strategies, assistive technology, and communication methods suited to students' needs.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and support staff to ensure inclusive learning.
  • Monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods to maximize educational outcomes.
  • Provide direct support and advocacy for students and families regarding hearing loss challenges.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure in teaching deaf or hard of hearing students, with experience in K-12 education.
  • Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and use of assistive listening devices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in adapting curriculum to meet diverse learning needs related to hearing impairments.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive, accessible learning environment.
