A K-12 school in Elgin, IL, is seeking a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for a leave replacement contract position. This role involves providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, fostering communication skills, and promoting academic success in an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored educational instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, and support staff to create effective learning strategies
  • Utilize assistive technologies and communication methods to enhance student engagement
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
  • Provide training and resources to families to support student development at home

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Strong knowledge of auditory and visual communication strategies
  • Ability to design and implement effective instructional plans
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and related educational tools
