A dynamic opportunity is available for a Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education within a K-12 public school setting in Florence, KY. This contract position runs throughout the school year (CSY), offering a chance to impact the academic and social development of students with hearing impairments across all grade levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Utilize specialized teaching strategies and communication methods to support language acquisition and academic achievement.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and support staff to provide comprehensive services.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction methods to meet evolving educational needs.
  • Support students' integration within mainstream classroom environments when appropriate.
  • Engage with parents and caregivers to foster communication and involvement in student learning.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Experience working with K-12 students across a range of hearing abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technologies and communication systems such as American Sign Language (ASL) and auditory-verbal techniques.
  • Ability to design and deliver curriculum that meets state standards and addresses unique learning needs.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
