Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Fort Worth, TX

A full-time teaching opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing serving a K-12 caseload in Fort Worth, TX. This contract role is set to begin January 6th and provides a chance to work with a diverse group of approximately 20 students who are full sign language users. Most students wear hearing devices, and classrooms incorporate FM systems to support learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction tailored for students who are deaf or hard of hearing within the K-12 spectrum.
• Utilize sign language as the primary mode of communication.
• Monitor and manage students’ use of hearing devices and FM systems to enhance auditory experiences.
• Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to create individualized educational plans.
• Implement teaching strategies that promote language development, literacy, and academic growth.

Qualifications:

• Valid Texas teaching certificate in General Education or Special Education.
• Certification as a Teacher of the Auditorily Impaired.
• Experience working with students who have hearing impairments in a K-12 educational setting.
• Proficiency in sign language and knowledge of assistive hearing technology.
