A full-time teaching opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing working with a K-12 caseload in Grand Prairie, TX. This contract position begins January 6th and serves a caseload of 20 students who are full sign users. Most students wear hearing devices and utilize FM systems in the classroom to support their learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing from kindergarten through 12th grade.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's auditory and communication needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech therapists, and other support staff to ensure inclusive and effective classroom environments.
- Utilize sign language as the primary mode of communication and adapt teaching strategies to meet auditory and language needs.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches to promote academic and social development.
Qualifications:
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in General Education or Special Education.
- Certification as a Teacher of the Auditory Impaired.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, including knowledge of hearing assistive technologies such as hearing aids and FM systems.
- Proficiency in sign language to support full sign communication within the classroom.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and school teams.
