Located in Harvey, Louisiana, this full-time contract position offers an opportunity to serve K-12 students as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing (DHH). The role is designed for licensed educators with an active Louisiana DOE certification, ready to support diverse learners within a dynamic educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across the K-12 spectrum
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Use specialized techniques and assistive technologies to enhance communication and learning outcomes
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches accordingly
  • Collaborate with school personnel, families, and external specialists to support student success

Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana Department of Education certification for Teachers of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage caseloads effectively and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse needs

Additional Details:

  • Location: Harvey, LA within the Jefferson Parish school district area
  • Contract duration: Current school year through May 22, 2026
  • Schedule: 35 hours per week (7 hours/day plus 30-minute unpaid lunch)
  • Number of positions: Multiple openings available
  • Immediate start preferred with rapid interview scheduling and prompt decision-making process
