This full-time position is for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing serving K-12 students within a school district in the Chattanooga area. The role starts on January 5, 2026, and continues through May 21, 2026, following a school calendar schedule. The teacher will work onsite, providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments across various schools, depending on assignments and student schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across kindergarten through 12th grade.
  • Collaborate with educators, audiologists, and families to develop and implement IEPs tailored to hearing-impaired students’ needs.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate students’ communication modes and learning styles.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with state guidelines.
  • Advocate for deaf/hard of hearing students to ensure they have equitable access to educational resources.

Qualifications:

  • Active Tennessee Department of Education teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education required.
  • Experience working with K-12 Deaf/Hard of Hearing populations is essential.
  • Strong understanding of communication modalities including American Sign Language (ASL) and assistive technologies.
  • Ability to follow student schedules across multiple school sites as assigned.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Location: Onsite in the Chattanooga, TN area (Hixson).

This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact during a contract school year term with a focus on supporting students’ academic and social development. Candidates must be available to work full-time, 37.5 hours per week, and commit to onsite responsibilities.
