Located in Irving, TX, this full-time contract opportunity is ideal for a qualified educator specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing services within a K-12 school setting. The position begins on January 6th and offers a year-long commitment through the current school year (CSY).
The role involves managing a caseload of approximately 20 students who are full sign language users. Most students wear hearing devices, and FM systems are regularly used in the classroom to support their auditory needs. This setting provides a dynamic environment for professionals dedicated to enhancing communication and learning outcomes for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across K-12 grade levels
- Collaborating with general and special education staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Utilizing sign language and assistive technologies effectively within the classroom
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instruction methodologies accordingly
- Supporting classroom accommodations involving hearing devices and FM systems
Qualifications:
- Valid Texas teaching certificate (General Education or Special Education)
- Teacher of the Auditorily Impaired certification is required
- Experience working within a K-12 caseload focusing on Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with assistive hearing technologies
