A part-time position is available for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to serve an itinerant K-12 caseload in a school setting located in the McKinney, TX area. This contract role extends through the current school year until May 22, 2026, and requires working onsite.
Key qualifications and skills:
- Valid certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) education is mandatory
- Experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing across all grade levels (K-12)
- Ability to design and implement individualized educational programs tailored to students' unique communication needs
- Strong communication skills and collaborative approach to work with students, families, and school staff
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and strategies to support accessibility in the classroom
Primary responsibilities include:
- Providing direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments within multiple school environments
- Conducting assessments and developing individualized education plans (IEPs) specific to the needs of each student
- Collaborating with classroom teachers and support personnel to facilitate inclusion and academic success
- Maintaining detailed records and progress reports for each student
- Supporting families with resources and communication strategies relevant to hearing impairments
