This opportunity is for an experienced Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support K-12 students in a school located in Metairie, LA. The position is contract-based for the current school year, with a start date as soon as possible and an end date in late May 2026. This role demands a dedicated professional who holds an active Louisiana Department of Education certification to provide effective instruction and support to students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, across the K-12 spectrum.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Utilize appropriate communication methods and assistive technologies to enhance student learning.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with school and district policies.
  • Provide advocacy and guidance to students and families regarding resources and services.

Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana DOE certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education.
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Strong knowledge of educational strategies and resources for hearing-impaired students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage caseload and report progress effectively.

Work Details:

  • Full-time, 35 hours per week (7 hours per day) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
  • Contract duration: ASAP through May 22, 2026.
  • Caseload and school assignments will be determined based on district needs.
