Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum and teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Utilize assistive technologies and communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL) or speechreading to enhance accessibility.
- Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records to assess academic growth and social development.
- Provide consultation and resources to families to support student learning at home.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in deaf education.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working within K-12 educational settings supporting students with hearing impairments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Familiarity with accessibility tools and communication strategies for the deaf/hard of hearing population.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles and hearing abilities.
