An elementary school is seeking a part-time educator specialized in teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students. This contract role supports individualized student learning in a nurturing environment focused on fostering communication and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an elementary school setting
  • Utilize appropriate communication methods and technologies to enhance student engagement and comprehension
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
  • Participate in meetings and professional development related to DHH education

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification and/or licensure in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education or a related field
  • Experience working with young students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong communication skills, including proficiency in sign language or other relevant communication systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexibility to work onsite at the school and potentially shift to a virtual format as required

Location:

  • Position is based in North Wilkesboro, NC, at an elementary school

Duration and Schedule:

  • Contract role for the current school year (CSY)
  • Part-time hours with potential for schedule adjustments
