An elementary school is seeking a part-time educator specialized in teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students. This contract role supports individualized student learning in a nurturing environment focused on fostering communication and academic growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an elementary school setting
- Utilize appropriate communication methods and technologies to enhance student engagement and comprehension
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Participate in meetings and professional development related to DHH education
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification and/or licensure in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education or a related field
- Experience working with young students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in sign language or other relevant communication systems
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Flexibility to work onsite at the school and potentially shift to a virtual format as required
Location:
- Position is based in North Wilkesboro, NC, at an elementary school
Duration and Schedule:
- Contract role for the current school year (CSY)
- Part-time hours with potential for schedule adjustments
