A K-12 public school in Olympia, WA, is seeking a dedicated professional with expertise in teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. This contract position spans the current school year and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting students with unique communication needs in an inclusive educational setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across grades K-12.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with students’ auditory and language needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff to foster student success.
  • Utilize various communication methods, including sign language and assistive technology, to enhance learning.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Provide guidance and support to families regarding communication options and educational resources.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of educational strategies and accommodations for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
  • Familiarity with relevant assistive technologies and communication techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Valid teaching certification in special education or Deaf education preferred.

Location: Olympia, Washington
Duration: Contract for the current school year
