Apply NowThis opportunity seeks a dedicated Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education to support students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The role will be based in Puyallup, WA, within a K-12 school setting, offering a contract position for the current school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to promote academic and social success
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other support staff to ensure an inclusive learning environment
- Utilize assistive technologies and communication techniques, including sign language, to enhance student engagement
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and provide regular updates on student development
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education or related special education credentials
- Experience teaching deaf or hard of hearing students in a K-12 setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage students, families, and colleagues
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment
