Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | Puyallup, Washington

This opportunity seeks a dedicated Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education to support students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The role will be based in Puyallup, WA, within a K-12 school setting, offering a contract position for the current school year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to promote academic and social success
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other support staff to ensure an inclusive learning environment
• Utilize assistive technologies and communication techniques, including sign language, to enhance student engagement
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and provide regular updates on student development

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education or related special education credentials
• Experience teaching deaf or hard of hearing students in a K-12 setting
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage students, families, and colleagues
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment
