Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) - Reading, Pennsylvania

A K-12 school in Reading, PA is seeking a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing for a contract position during the current school year (CSY). This opportunity is ideal for an educator specialized in supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing, providing essential instruction and resources tailored to their unique learning needs.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across grade levels K-12
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with each student’s goals
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, speech therapists, and families to support student success
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
• Utilize assistive technologies and communication methods appropriate for the hearing impaired
• Maintain thorough documentation of student performance and communication with parents and staff

Qualifications:

• Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
• Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Knowledge of communication modalities such as American Sign Language (ASL) and auditory/oral techniques
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to create a positive, inclusive learning environment
