An opportunity is available for a skilled professional specializing in education for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This role supports K-12 learners in a dynamic school setting, emphasizing inclusive and accessible teaching practices. The position is a contract role for the current school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting curriculum to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, families, and specialists to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Utilize appropriate communication methods such as sign language, assistive technology, and other resources to enhance learning.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Participate in school meetings and professional development opportunities to remain current in best practices.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or credential in Deaf Education or related field.
- Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Location: Summerville, South Carolina
