A specialized teaching position is available for an educator skilled in working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, serving grades K-12. This contract role spans the complete school year and is based in Plano, Texas.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing tailored instruction to students with hearing impairments
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with support staff and families
- Utilizing assistive technologies and communication strategies such as sign language to enhance learning
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching approaches accordingly
- Supporting social and emotional development alongside academic needs
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure in deaf education or hearing impaired teaching
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods appropriate for deaf and hard of hearing learners
- Experience working within K-12 educational settings, preferably in inclusion or specialized programs
- Knowledge of legal requirements, accommodations, and resources related to deaf education
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
