An opportunity is available for a dedicated educator to work with a sixth-grade student who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This onsite position for the 2025-2026 school year requires a focused and passionate approach to support the unique learning needs of the student in a middle school setting.
Qualifications:
- Louisiana State teaching license in Deaf Education
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, preferably at the middle school level
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Knowledge of deaf culture and specialized teaching strategies
- Proficiency in sign language (ASL) and/or other communication methods
Location:
- Bastrop, LA
Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored educational instruction to meet the individual needs of the student
- Collaborate with other educators, staff, and the student’s family to create a supportive learning environment
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring that progress is documented and communicated
- Utilize appropriate teaching methods and resources to facilitate effective learning
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as available
