Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - Bastrop, LA

An opportunity is available for a dedicated educator to work with a sixth-grade student who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This onsite position for the 2025-2026 school year requires a focused and passionate approach to support the unique learning needs of the student in a middle school setting.

Qualifications:

• Louisiana State teaching license in Deaf Education
• Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, preferably at the middle school level
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Knowledge of deaf culture and specialized teaching strategies
• Proficiency in sign language (ASL) and/or other communication methods

Location:

• Bastrop, LA

Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored educational instruction to meet the individual needs of the student
• Collaborate with other educators, staff, and the student’s family to create a supportive learning environment
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring that progress is documented and communicated
• Utilize appropriate teaching methods and resources to facilitate effective learning
• Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as available
