An opportunity is available for a dedicated professional specializing in education for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This role is set in a K-12 school environment located in New Castle, DE, and spans the entire school year.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with K-12 students, preferably in a school setting
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Familiarity with assistive technology for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to understand students' needs and develop appropriate learning goals
- Create and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to diverse learning styles
- Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and families to support students’ development
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation
- Provide direct support to students using ASL and other communication methods
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing evaluation processes
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
