An opportunity is available for a dedicated professional specializing in education for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This role is set in a K-12 school environment located in New Castle, DE, and spans the entire school year.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
  • Valid teaching certification for Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with K-12 students, preferably in a school setting
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Familiarity with assistive technology for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to understand students' needs and develop appropriate learning goals
  • Create and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to diverse learning styles
  • Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and families to support students’ development
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation
  • Provide direct support to students using ASL and other communication methods
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing evaluation processes
