A full-time itinerant teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students is needed to support K-12 learners in a vibrant school setting in Woodbridge, VA. This contract role spans the entire school year and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by providing tailored educational services to students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support to K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity
  • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with educators, families, and related service providers
  • Provide itinerant services across multiple school sites, adapting strategies to meet varied student needs
  • Utilize assistive technologies and communication strategies to enhance student learning
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with school policies and state regulations
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in DHH education

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong knowledge of language development, auditory training, and communication methods such as sign language and speechreading
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible itinerary across schools
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
