Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Bolingbrook, Illinois

Support students in the development of self-advocacy skills and independence.
Provide training and resources to staff and families regarding visual impairments and best practices for support.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and documentation as required by the district.

Qualifications:

• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
• Degree in Special Education, preferably with a focus on visual impairments
• Experience working with K-12 students, particularly those with visual impairments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Proficient in Braille and assistive technology related to visual impairments

Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to determine students' visual needs and learning styles
• Plan and deliver individualized instruction in Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility
• Collaborate with educators, families, and specialists to develop and implement IEPs
• Provide training and resources to staff and families on visual impairments and support strategies
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and required documentation
