A position is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired focused on early childhood education in the Bronx, NY. This contract role supports a kindergarten student who has recently moved into the program and requires specialized instruction and consultation.

Responsibilities include providing direct instruction to a visually impaired kindergarten student for approximately one hour each day. Additionally, the teacher will conduct two hours per week of consultations with the general education teacher to co-develop strategies and accommodations that support the student's learning and accessibility. Collaboration with school staff and families is key to ensuring the student achieves educational goals effectively.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI).
  • Experience working with visually impaired students in early childhood or elementary settings.
  • Knowledge of specialized instructional techniques and assistive technologies for visually impaired learners.
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with teachers, families, and other school personnel.
  • Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment.

Location: Early Childhood School in Bronx, NY

This contract role spans the current school year, offering an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the educational experience of a visually impaired kindergarten student.
