Part-Time K-5 Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Eastman, Georgia

Seeking a Braillist and Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support early childhood students in grades K-5. This part-time position serves three students and works collaboratively with one Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in an early childhood school setting. The role is designed for flexibility, with the opportunity to work from half a day up to one full day each week during the school year.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct braille instruction and support to students with visual impairments.
• Deliver orientation and mobility services tailored to the developmental needs of early childhood and elementary students.
• Collaborate closely with the TVI to develop individualized education plans and ensure effective service delivery.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Communicate effectively with school staff and families regarding student needs and progress.

Qualifications:

• Experience as a Braillist, providing braille transcription or instruction.
• Certification or experience as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, specifically with early childhood or elementary-level students.
• Knowledge of best practices in teaching students with visual impairments.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to a flexible schedule.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
