Seeking a skilled educator specializing in visual impairment to support a unique early childhood learning opportunity within a close-knit school setting located approximately 85 miles south of San Antonio, TX. This contract role spans the 2025-2026 school year, offering part-time hours tailored to the needs of the student.
This position involves working with a young Kindergarten student who has a prosthetic eye and potential visual impairment needs. While the student has not yet undergone formal assessment or identification, the role will focus on providing specialized instruction and support to facilitate the child's educational growth and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational strategies tailored to the visual needs of the student.
- Collaborate with families, school staff, and related service providers to support the student's progress.
- Conduct ongoing observations and assessments to monitor the student’s visual and learning needs.
- Provide guidance and training to classroom teachers regarding accommodations for visual impairment.
- Maintain detailed records and reports in compliance with educational standards.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Experience working with early childhood students with visual impairments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
