A contracted opportunity is available for a teacher specializing in serving students who are visually impaired within a K-12 school setting in the Washington DC metropolitan area, approximately 45 minutes south of DC.

This full-time role (37.5 hours per week) begins on January 5, 2026 and runs through May 29, 2026. The position requires an active Virginia Department of Education teaching certification in the area of Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI). The caseload typically includes approximately 22 students with visual impairments per teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with visual impairments, supporting their educational and developmental needs.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students.
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, families, and related service providers to ensure integrated support.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, adapting instructional methods accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all district and state regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Virginia DOE certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
  • Experience working in K-12 education, with caseload exposure to visually impaired students preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 22 students.
  • Commitment to student-centered educational practices.

Location: Washington DC Area, Virginia (approximately 45 minutes south of DC)
