A full-time opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to cover a leave during the second semester in a high school setting. This contract role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to a high school student with visual impairments, ensuring their academic needs are met in alignment with individualized educational goals.
Location: Approximately 30 minutes north of Boston, MA
Duration: Contract position for the second semester of the current school year (CSY)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to a high school student with visual impairments, fostering independence and access to the curriculum
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to implement accommodations and modifications
- Utilize assistive technology and specialized materials to promote effective learning
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Provide training and resources to school personnel and family members as appropriate
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with state and district policies regarding special education services
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certified Teacher for the Visually Impaired with appropriate state licensure
- Experience working with adolescents in a high school environment
- Knowledge of visual impairment-related strategies, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and support student success
