A full-time opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to cover a leave during the second semester in a high school setting. This contract role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to a high school student with visual impairments, ensuring their academic needs are met in alignment with individualized educational goals.

Location: Approximately 30 minutes north of Boston, MA

Duration: Contract position for the second semester of the current school year (CSY)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to a high school student with visual impairments, fostering independence and access to the curriculum
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to implement accommodations and modifications
  • Utilize assistive technology and specialized materials to promote effective learning
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
  • Provide training and resources to school personnel and family members as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with state and district policies regarding special education services

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certified Teacher for the Visually Impaired with appropriate state licensure
  • Experience working with adolescents in a high school environment
  • Knowledge of visual impairment-related strategies, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and support student success
