This full-time position seeks experienced Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support K-12 students in New Orleans, LA. The role offers a contract through the current school year, spanning from ASAP to May 22, 2026, with a schedule aligned to the school calendar—Monday through Friday, 7 hours daily with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students across K-12 grade levels.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students' unique needs.
- Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to promote inclusive learning.
- Utilize assistive technology and adaptive teaching methods to enhance student accessibility and engagement.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district and state requirements.
Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana DOE Teaching Certification specifically for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) is required.
- Prior experience working with visually impaired students in K-12 settings preferred.
- Strong understanding of instructional strategies, assessment tools, and assistive technologies for the visually impaired.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with students, parents, and educators.
- Availability to begin immediately with certification current and clear—candidates pending certification will not be considered.
Location:
New Orleans, Louisiana (Jefferson Parish School District)
Hours:
Full-time, 35 hours per week (7 hours daily plus unpaid lunch), Monday through Friday.
