An opportunity is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired to support K-12 students across multiple school districts in the Houston, TX area, including itinerant assignments servicing various campuses. This position focuses on delivering specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students within a full-time or part-time contract role.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct educational services to visually impaired students in grades K-12.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure effective integration and accommodations.
- Offer training and resources related to visual impairment to staff and families.
- Conduct assessments and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Travel between assigned districts as required by itinerant service assignments.
Qualifications:
- Valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification/license for the state of Texas.
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments.
- Strong knowledge of instructional techniques, assistive technology, and adaptive materials for visually impaired learners.
- Ability to manage a caseload across multiple schools and maintain effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
- Flexible schedule availability for itinerant service delivery, Monday through Friday.
Location: Northwest and City Center Houston, TX, with itinerant services covering multiple school districts.
This contract position runs through late May 2026 with a start date as soon as possible. The workload entails approximately 37.5 hours per week, with consideration for part-time arrangements.
