A K-12 school in Rockford, IL is seeking a qualified professional to provide specialized instruction for students with visual impairments. This contract position is available for the upcoming school year and requires experience working with visually impaired students in an educational setting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing the educational needs of students with visual impairments
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ specific requirements
- Utilizing adaptive teaching techniques and materials to support literacy, mobility, and daily living skills
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff to promote student progress and inclusion
- Monitoring and documenting student growth and adjusting instruction accordingly
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or equivalent credentials
- Demonstrated experience in instructing K-12 students with visual impairments
- Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive tools used in vision support
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
