A contract position is available for a skilled educator specializing in instruction for students who are visually impaired. This role serves a K-12 school community using telehealth services, with an expected commitment of 35-40 hours per week under a school-year schedule.

Location:

  • Ellicott City, MD
  • Telehealth delivery with onsite support in Westminster, MD

Duration:

  • Immediate start
  • Contract ends on June 30, 2026

Work Schedule:

  • Flexible school-day hours depending on client needs (ranges from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM)

Caseload and Support:

  • Responsible for 20-25 students ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade
  • Students present diverse visual impairment levels, from significant cognitive challenges to college-bound
  • Each student is supported by a Braille transcriber, ensuring ample onsite assistance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct evaluations and deliver specially designed instruction tailored to individual IEP goals
  • Provide direct instruction and consultative support
  • Participate actively in 504 planning and IEP meetings
  • Collaborate with onsite staff for students with more severe impairments as needed

Qualifications:

  • Maryland teacher certification or licensure with a TVI (Teacher for the Visually Impaired) endorsement
  • Experience working with visually impaired students across the K-12 spectrum
  • Ability to deliver instruction effectively through telehealth platforms
  • Strong skills in designing and implementing IEPs and 504 plans

Technology and Resources:

  • Laptop provided for telehealth service delivery
  • Integrated support systems including Braille transcription services available
