A K-12 visual impairment specialist opportunity is available in the Washington DC area, approximately 45 minutes south of the city. This full-time contract position begins January 5, 2026, and runs through May 29, 2026, with an average caseload of 22 students per teacher. The workweek consists of 37.5 hours, supporting visually impaired students across one or more schools within the district.

Key Requirements:

  • Valid Virginia Department of Education (VA DOE) certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
  • Experience working with visually impaired students in K-12 settings.
  • Ability to manage a caseload averaging 22 students.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strictly onsite position; no remote or hybrid work options available.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering specialized instructional services to visually impaired students in alignment with their individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Conducting assessments and developing tailored strategies to meet each student's needs.
  • Collaborating with educators, families, and support staff to promote student success.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting student progress regularly.
  • Participating in district meetings and professional development as required.

Location: Washington DC Area (Within commuting distance from Woodbridge, VA)
