Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)

Soliant is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide 1:1 support to a student in an educational setting. This position requires onsite presence and is ideal for candidates with prior schools experience.

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive sign language interpretation and support to a student in an educational environment.
• Facilitate effective communication between the student who is deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff.
• Assist the student in understanding and participating in classroom activities, discussions, and assignments.
• Collaborate with the school staff and other professionals to ensure the student's educational needs are met.
• Adapt interpretation style and methods to suit the individual student's communication preferences and needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Requirements:

• Possess a minimum of a 3.5 Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score.
• Previous experience working in schools or educational settings is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a thorough understanding of deaf culture.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and other professionals.
• Ability to adapt and adjust interpreting strategies based on the student's unique needs.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional ethics.
• Availability to work onsite at the designated educational facility.
