Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) - Multiple Openings

Soliant is currently seeking skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreters (SLIs) for multiple openings in Spartanburg 7 for the 2023-2024 school year. These full-time positions offer an exciting opportunity to work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Candidates with a 3.5 Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score are preferred, but individuals with a score of 3.0 will also be considered.

Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and staff members in various educational settings.
• Interpret classroom discussions, lectures, and other educational materials.
• Assist students in understanding and participating in academic activities and assignments.
• Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure the student's needs are met.
• Adapt interpreting strategies to suit the individual needs and preferences of students.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Requirements:

• Minimum of a 3.0 EIPA score (3.5 preferred) or equivalent certification.
• Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools or educational settings is desirable.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a thorough understanding of deaf culture.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and staff.
• Ability to adapt interpreting styles and techniques to meet the needs of different students.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional ethics.
• Availability for full-time work throughout the 2023-2024 school year.
