Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for 23'-24' School Year - Full Time in Savannah, GA

A school district in Savannah, GA is actively seeking a full-time Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. The successful candidate will provide interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) or other sign language systems
• Interpret signed language into spoken language
• Facilitate communication between deaf or hard of hearing students and teachers, staff, and other students
• Provide interpreting services in a variety of settings, including classrooms, meetings, and extracurricular activities
• Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to support student learning and success
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on interpreting services provided

Requirements:

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Interpreting
• Completion of an interpreter training program or equivalent experience
• National certification as a sign language interpreter (e.g., RID certification)
• Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing individuals preferred
