This position is tailored for a teacher who excels in providing specialized instruction to students with unique learning needs. Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students in the TK-3 grade range, tailoring instruction to meet their specific needs and goals.
  • Provide direct instruction in a self-contained classroom, offering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Manage a small caseload of less than 10 students, ensuring each student receives personalized attention and support.
  • Facilitate learning for students with diverse needs, including cross-categories of special education.
  • Collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals who provide support within the classroom.
  • Utilize effective classroom management strategies to maintain a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Develop and adapt curriculum materials to meet the unique needs of students.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instruction and intervention strategies as needed.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, working collaboratively with parents and the multidisciplinary team to develop, review, and implement IEPs.

Qualifications:

  • Valid California teaching credential with appropriate Special Education certification.
  • Previous experience in a self-contained classroom or Special Day Class setting is preferred.
  • Dedication to providing high-quality instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, paraprofessionals, and other educational professionals.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
  • Familiarity with IEP development and special education best practices.
