Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion para educator assessment, 60 college credits (100 level or higher), or an associate degree
  • Must be able to push, pull, or lift weights of at least 30 pounds
  • Must be proficient in the use of the English language, both verbal and written
  • First Aid and CPR certification (can be obtained by the district)
  • Authorization to work in the United States

This position assists a certificated teacher or other staff member with instructional and non-instructional activities for students in the classroom. Responsibilities include tutoring students, correcting classroom work, monitoring student behavior, adapting curriculum (under the guidance of the teacher), preparing, and assisting with mainstreaming activities and preparing classroom materials. Depending upon individual assignment, duties may also include clerical work such as typing and duplicating materials, supervising students, and providing basic first aid. The paraprofessional will assist one-one with a third-grade student and will require toileting support. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts learning exercises with individual children or small groups of children, in program related activities
  • Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with each other
  • Assists in executing the daily and long-range lesson planning
  • Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual children
  • Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary
  • Assists with supervision of children in the classroom, playground, and/or cafeteria
  • Assists the teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas
  • Assists in the preparation and the collection of educational materials such as bulletin boards, charts, audio-visuals, seatwork, dittos, flash cards, etc.
  • Attends in-service activities designed to help with instruction
  • Prepares and administers reading, math, and language assessment testing to students as necessary
  • Tutors’ students as may be necessary
  • Maintains files and records as directed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Full time position (6hrs a day, W2 contracting)
