Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Job Type: Contract Position

Job Duration: September 5th, 2023, to June 14, 2024 (23-24 School Year)

Working Hours: Full-Time, 7.5 hours per day

Estimated Number of Students: 20-25

Classroom Type: Resource Classroom with Co-Teaching Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with general education teachers to provide inclusive education for students with disabilities.
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Adapt curriculum materials and teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Monitor and assess students' progress, making adjustments to instructional strategies as needed.
• Conduct parent meetings to discuss student progress, IEPs, and educational plans.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and IEPs.
• Provide a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.

Requirements:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education (Michigan State Certification preferred).
• Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
• Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to meeting the needs of all students.
