Position Overview: As the Special Education Director, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the special education programs within our school district. You will lead a team of dedicated professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations governing special education.
- Provide leadership and support to special education staff, including teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals.
- Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and parents to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of special education programs and services, making recommendations for improvement as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between the school district and outside agencies, including state and federal education departments and community organizations.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with special education endorsement.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in special education leadership or administration.
- Thorough understanding of federal and state laws and regulations governing special education, including IDEA and Section 504.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
- Knowledge of best practices in inclusive education and differentiated instruction.
