Job Description:

In this role, you will work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that fosters academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with various disabilities and learning challenges.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed to ensure success.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other specialists to support student achievement and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
  • Create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, engagement, and a love of learning.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid Washington State teaching certification with an endorsement in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with a range of disabilities and learning needs.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with assistive technology and adaptive learning tools.
  • Familiarity with current special education laws and regulations.
  • Training in behavior management strategies and techniques.
