We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This full-time position will commence in July and continue throughout the 2023-2024 school year. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Plan and deliver instructional lessons aligned with students' IEP goals and Pennsylvania state standards
- Utilize differentiated teaching strategies and instructional materials to address diverse learning needs
- Assess students' progress and adjust instruction accordingly to support their academic and social-emotional growth
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive classroom practices
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding students' progress and individualized support plans
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development opportunities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student records and progress
Requirements:
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Special Education
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Familiarity with designing and implementing IEPs
- Experience in adapting and modifying curriculum to meet individual student needs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
- Strong organizational skills to manage student records and documentation
