Location: Baton Rouge, LA and surrounding areas
 

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced School Special Education Teacher to join our team for the 23/24 academic year. As a Special Education Teacher, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. You will collaborate with parents, general education teachers, and other professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic and social-emotional growth.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs
• Adapt instructional materials and methods to meet students' individual learning styles and abilities
• Provide direct instruction and support to students in academic subjects, life skills, and social-emotional development
• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented in the classroom
• Monitor students' progress and make data-driven decisions to adjust instruction and intervention strategies
• Communicate and collaborate with parents to provide updates on students' progress and address their concerns
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to conduct assessments, evaluate students' needs, and provide appropriate interventions
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and reports

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field
• Valid Louisiana state certification in Special Education
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs preferred
• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
• Familiarity with differentiating instruction and implementing evidence-based teaching strategies
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders
• Compassion, patience, and a commitment to supporting students' success
